#BeBetter2018: Focus & Intentions for the New Year

Distractions

I want to make being responsible and happy hip and cool. And I also want to make the word hip cool again 😜

I LOVE memes & the whole millennial attitude of “instant gratification and everything is too hard” for a good laugh. But I think we’re hearing and seeing it so much that it has turned into our inner voice. So many times I have thought “Screw yoga tonight. I want pizza.” Or “Lets sleep in and then go to brunch” Sleeping in, rest days, and going out to eat are fun in moderation but when that becomes your everyday it causes so many negatives.
Not only does your body change but your mind does too.
You lose motivation, drive, and willpower. Anything that isn’t as easy as a click is suddenly way too difficult.
Literally, picking up a book is so easy yet we get sucked in by the screens surrounding us. Same goes for cleaning, stretching, spending quality time with friends, making and eating home cooked meals, hobbies, etc.

I think technology is A+. I mean, Hello, I have a blog & social media. But my point is we don’t have to let it consume us.
The internet should be a tool we use for information, connection, and entertainment. It should not be our only focus.

Focus & Intention

Which leads me to the key word this year, FOCUS.
I struggled for so long thinking of a good word to replace resolution.
The definition for resolution is ‘a firm decision’ or ‘the action of solving a problem’. Both definitions are great for something you want to fix but I think that’s exactly the problem with that word. If you go into a new year thinking “I have all these problems and I have to do this to fix it.” It’s just like going on a strict diet. You’re going to miss the old days when your life may have not been great but at least it was easy, comfortable, and full of yes.
I want everyone to live in a world full of yeses!

Restricting yourself and thinking ‘don’t’ actually makes you think of all the things you shouldn’t be. Instead of focusing on your goals and what you’re striving for.
So I want you to make a list of things you want to FOCUS on. Not resolutions or restrictions.
Things you want MORE of.
