Black Friday and Shop Local Saturday

pay it forward local christmas tree community present gift

It’s midnight on Thanksgiving day so naturally this is when I am writing this blog post.
Black Friday and Shop Local Saturday have arrived! I had a long day and just drove 2 hours home so I’ll keep this short and sweet for now and on to it later on.

How I feel…

I know so many people look forward to these days all year. As someone who usually does everything spontaneous, including buying presents, this was originally hard to wrap my head around. I have recently gotten into buying your regular faves on sale and committing a whole day to shopping local though. Plus, it’s fun to go out with friends and/or family and see what you can find.

Local Shops

For those of you who live in Lexington, KY I’m going to list my fave locally run shops. I will add any sales I find out about as I do. If it doesn’t have anything listed next to it, I would still call or go in to see if they have a sale. You never know! Plus, these are all my go-to places to shop for presents or myself regardless of any sale they have going on.

The entire store is 50% off! I love them for both their clothes and all their home goods. Plus, they have great gifts for men. Get it while it’s hot! 😉

We all know this is my favorite restaurant in Lexington. I got gift cards last year for Christmas and I was in heaven. This year, you get a $5 coupon for every $20 of gift cards you purchase. Plus, you can buy them online AND send them to the recipient. It really doesn’t get better. Click here for the online form.

I try to check out this store first before going anywhere else when I’m gift shopping. They are the only Fair Trade store in Kentucky. I could go way more into this but for now I’ll just tell you that it means a lot and I’m thankful to have this store in Lexington. They carry so many things from stocking stuffers, home goods, clothing, socks and gloves, etc. They are having a 15% off sale from the 24th-27th so make sure you stop in and check them out!

Market 301

I used to frequent this market every month and loved it! Because of my travels I have only been once this month so I’m super excited that they have two dates this weekend. For anyone who hasn’t been, Market 301 is a pop up market that invites a curated selection of local vendors to sell under one roof once a month. I have found some of my favorite vendors at this market and can’t wait to see what is in store this weekend. I will be posting my haul on instagram, @girlmeetslex, so stay tuned there if you want to scope it out before going.

Friday, Nov 24th 6-10pm  Saturday, Nov 25th 10am-3pm

A Cup of Commonwealth/Chocolate Holler

For the one who loves coffee and or chocolate, gift them a pay it forward sleeve from one of these Lexington favorites! The pay it forward sleeves are basically a gift card that is shared with someone to show appreciation or with a stranger as an act of random kindness. You can make it hefty enough for someone’s present or you can buy one drink for mom or your friend that has been working extra hard lately.

For Friends, Peggy’s, Foxhouse, Street Scene

These stores probably all have sales but I don’t know about them yet and I’m tired! :p They have home decor, books, clothes, jewelry, and more and are all locally owned. Peep their instas to get more of a feel for their style and check out if they have sales going.

Bigger stores I love

So hey I’m human and shop at chains sometimes too. Or online. Crazy, right? Some of those places are having sales too and I didn’t want ya to miss out so… I’m dropping the links below in case you might want to peruse… my most frequented for sure are Urban Outfitters, Nasty Gal, and Target. Happy Shopping!

Urban Outfitters, Etsy, Nasty Gal, All Saints -pricier but I love browsing there, Francesca’s, and Nordstrom

Lex Spread Love

Of course, I have to throw in the shirt the LexBloggerFam made to raise funds for Bluegrass Rape Crisis Center. Get more details and the link to purchase on my blog post here. It’s only $20 and 20% of the proceeds go straight to BRCC. It’s perfect for the humanitarian on your gift list!
