This post is probably not for junk food lovers. Nothing against those of you out there!
I grew up eating a lot of McDonald’s, Taco Bell, Cheerios, Lays, Fritos, Doritos, TONS of Coke, Toaster Strudels, Pizza Hut, Tostino’s, Red Baron, and the list goes on. Of course there were a few fruits here and there but not much! I ate a lot of fast food and had a lot of health problems. Some of them were treated like they were life long issues. But as I stumbled upon and ventured into the world of healthy eating I found that most of my problems were solved and the ones that didn’t go away at least got a whole lot better.
Now, I’m not saying I’m perfect by any means. I still like to indulge now and then and this past year has basically been a junk food year. But I can tell you, whether I’m eating healthy or not, that I know eating healthy makes me feel a thousand times better. I have more energy, a happier mood, better memory, and I get better sleep.
These pictures are from a Farmer’s Market I found on a road trip to Chicago. You would never guess it but it was actually right next to a gas station! It was so nice to be able to literally stop to smell the flowers. And pick up some healthy snacks that were not available at the gas station. Seeing these photos again inspired me to share my love for eating fresh, whole foods. I’ll probably be sharing more of my thoughts on healthy eating as I get back into the lifestyle myself.
For now, I’ll leave you with my favorite ingredients that make up almost all my go-to recipes at home. My grocery produce staples are avocados, bananas, berries, lemons, cucumber, kale, spinach, arugula, cilantro, and parsley.
Let me know if you want me to share some of my recipes sometime!
